Step-by-Step Process

Summary of the Mandala Process:

Step 1)  Draw a circle on your paper by using a compass or tracing a template or bowl

Step 2)  Turn your paper over and write the date on it

Step 3)  Write down a question you want answered or an intention that you have for this particular mandala

Step 4)  Sit quietly, breathe deeply and focus on your question/intention for 8-10 minutes

Step 5)  Turn your paper back to the side with the circle on it and start to draw, paint, or color what you saw, felt, or heard during your meditation

Step 6)  Continue until finished with the mandala

Step 7)  Give your mandala a title, if one comes to you

Step 8)  Journal/write on the back of your paper what the process of creating that mandala was like, what meaning you see in the symbols that showed up, and how you feel about it

Step 9)  Keep the mandala out in plain sight for the next week

Step 10)  Write down any other interpretations or messages that come to you about your mandala

Step 11)  Store in a safe place to review at a later time

First off I would like to say terrific blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t
mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts
before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my
thoughts in getting my thoughts out. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost just trying to figure out how to begin.
    Any suggestions or tips? Cheers!

Hello Sandra. I typically take several deep breaths, focus on my breath for a few minutes, and listen to some very relaxing music to clear my mind. I agree that writing the first sentence is a hurdle to get over. I struggle with that also. I think all writers and artists have that same struggle. Good luck to you in your writing!
